Trip Overview

The Gokyo Valley trek is one of the most popular trekking destinations in the Everest region of Nepal. This trek starts with a short (15minutes) flight to Lukla from Manthali airport and leads through picturesque sherpa villages, lush rhododendron and pine forest and sky touching mountains views throughout the trek. This 14 days trek is packed with adventure, intimate interactions with the locals, diverse landscapes, and rich cultural heritage. Visiting largest sherpa's settlement of Namche Bazaar is one of the most highlights of this trek.

This trekking is not technically challenging because you are not climbing over 6000m peak on this journey. However, every day you will trek for minum 3 to maximum 8 hours while gaining elevation and crossing the Renjola-Pass 5350m, which keeps the overall trek on the moderate to difficult side. We recommend the Gokyo valley trek to anyone who is in good health and can walk 3-8 hours a day.

This trekking route is less crowded than Everest Base Camp offers comfortable lodge accommodations. Our package cost covers (Medium range) there are more choice of service standard such as normal guest houses without private toilet-bathrooms, medium range of guest houses where you can get private toilet-bathrooms. However, you can upgrade to a luxury lodge if your budget allows. Trekking routes are well-maintained and safe to travel for any ages of travellers.

Sherpa culture and mountain views

Sherpas are one of the biggest highlights of Everest Region. They are an indigenous community of the Khumbu region and are known for their endurance and climbing skills. The Gokyo valley trail goes through the beautiful Sherpa villages, where you will be spending the nights.

My wife and I joined Raj on a 17 day trek to Everest basecamp and Gokyo Lake. It was the experience of a lifetime and we will be forever grateful to Raj and Ascent Adventures Nepal. Raj ensured that our experience was meaningful, we had everything we needed, and that we felt comfortable and safe at all times. Raj has become a lifelong friend and we can't wait until our next opportunity to join him on an adventure. We can't recommend Raj and the company highly enough, and continue to connect our friends and family whenever we can.
