Overview

The Mardi Himal trek offers a diverse and picturesque journey through the stunning landscapes of the Annapurna region. Also known as the Mardi Himal Base Camp trek, it takes you to the base of Mardi Himal, located east of the famous Annapurna Base Camp trek route.

The trail starts from Pokhara, one of Nepal's most scenic cities, and gradually ascends through picturesque villages, lush forests, and alpine meadows. Throughout the trek, you will get to witness wonderful views of Mt. Annapurna South (7,219 m/23,684 ft), Mt. Hiunchuli (6,441 m/21,132 ft), Mt. Fishtail (6,993 m/22,943 ft), and Mardi Himal (5,587 m/18,330 ft) itself.

Compared to popular treks in the Annapurna region, the Mardi Himal trek 09 days offers a more serene and less crowded experience, perfect for those seeking solitude and tranquility. As the trail is on the offbeat side, you will have a lot of adventure throughout the journey.

What to expect during the Mardi Himal trek?

From lush rhododendron forests in the lower elevations to alpine meadows and rocky terrain closer to the base camp, the Mardi Himal trek presents a diverse range of landscapes and ecosystems to explore. Towards the end of the trek, you will also get to see the lifestyle of the locals in Sidhing village.

The Mardi Himal trek is considered moderately challenging. It is suitable for trekkers with a moderate level of fitness. Beginner trekkers can join the Mardi Himal trek. The typical duration of the trek is around 5-12 days, depending on the chosen itinerary and acclimatization needs.

The trek begins in the picturesque city of Pokhara, where you'll be greeted by tranquil Phewa Lake and the stunning surrounding Annapurna range. As you ascend, the trail winds through lush forests, rhododendron groves, and quaint villages, offering ever-changing landscapes and breathtaking vistas at every turn.

The trail is mostly forested. Keep an eye out for the diverse wildlife that inhabits the region, including colorful birds, butterflies, and even the elusive snow leopard. The forests are also home to a variety of flora and fauna. While the facilities along the trail may be more basic compared to popular trekking routes, you'll still find comfortable teahouses.

With fewer trekkers on the trail, you'll have ample opportunities to soak in the tranquility of the mountains and connect with nature on a deeper level. Trekking to Mardi Himal is a magical journey that offers a perfect balance of adventure, tranquility, and natural beauty. The ultimate sunrise and mountain view from the Mardi Himal Base Camp, the highest point of the trek, is jaw-dropping.
